Cetup welcomes the “Mobility Package” agreement, concluded on the 3rd of December last, in the European Union Council of Ministers of Transport. A reform in favour of the rights of road industry professionals and fair competition between European companies, which we had been hoping for for a long time.
While retaining the flexibility necessary for competitiveness between organisations, this European Union reform protects employees in the road industry and regulates competition between member states. Pursuant to the right of secondment, it in particular controls work cycles, increases supervision of cabotage* and gives road industry professionals the right to regularly return to their home countries.
We agree with the analysis of Ms. Elizabeth Borne, the Minister of Transport, who sees in this agreement: “a major advance which will standardise upwards the social rights of employees in the sector, in order to create conditions for fairer competition within the European market, and finally ensure that rules are correctly complied with”.
This European agreement once more confirms the commitments we have made for thirty years: to provide our Cetup drivers – all on French permanent contracts – optimal conditions of work and safety, while protecting the environment.
